Our Little Daisy ♥

Life is better with Baby

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAISY!

Yes,this has happened. My little baby girl officially turned 2 years old four days ago. Somehow this was the best picture Darnell was able to snap of her with her little cake (she’s at that prime time age for pictures - not) but she was smiling pretty brightly and she was staring at the sugar coated goodness on that plate.

I had to work all day on her actual birthday (MAY 3rd) so I was pretty bummed that I didn’t get to spend my little girl’s BIG day with her (it was my fault though, I should have scheduled to have that day off). I did have some time on my lunch hour to run to Albertson’s and pickup 4 helium balloons, and that wonderful little daisy cake (how fitting). I also wrapped up a gift (3 DVDs - Despicable Me, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King) so she would have something to celebrate at her actual birthday. For her party this year, we are doing a HUGE Toy Story bash (which will happen this upcoming weekend, more on that in a later post)

A lot of my sadness was washed away when I got home and scooped up my little birthday girl and saw that she had gotten a new doll from the wonderful family that watches Daisy during the day! It was pretty awesome to see how much other people care about our little girl. We are pretty sad that they are moving and we have to find a new daycare :( I hate getting attached to people/things so easily!

For dinner we went out to a little Italian restaurant called Gino’s. We’d heard a lot about it and it was a lot of fun! Good food and great atmosphere…although I’m afraid that Daisy’s attendance at restaurants is going to become more sparse (we just spend the entire meal time focusing on keeping her quiet and happy).

When we got home I let Daisy open up her gifts.

It was so fun to watch her “get it”. Christmas was a good indicator, but she is just that much older now and that makes it so much more fun. We are lucky that her birthday is spaced out so perfectly with Christmas though! She gets to enjoy different toys that align with her development.

So that was your big day Daisy! A low-key affair, but I’m busy getting prepared for your super Toy Story blow-out bash this weekend! Everyone is greatly looking forward to it!

I tried to cut down on the nostalgia in this post, but I really cannot believethat my little girl is 2 years old!! She has changed my life in SO many ways and I still cannot believe that she has only been in existence for so little, yet so long of a time. I love being her mom!!

Easter

Three weeks after the fact, but I’m finally blogging about our Easter weekend festivities….needless to say, we’ve been pretty busy the past three weeks!

On Saturday Daisy and I headed out to a local church to partake in a big community Easter egg hunt. They kicked off the festivities with a live kids show in the audiotorium, complete with dancing, lights and music. Daisy sat on my lap nicely the entire 30 minute show, it was great!

The main event was super fun! They broke it up into different age groups (which was super nice) so Daisy and I lined up with the 2 and unders.

She had a hard time grasping that she had to wait until they said GO to begin collecting eggs, but once we started she did pretty good! I think she got about 7 eggs in her basket, all by herself! It was a bit of a windy and cold morning so we didn’t stay much longer after the hunt was over, but I was a nice mom and let her eat one of her gatherings :)

I then spent the afternoon with Andrea at the movies to watch Titanic in 3-D and it was awesome!! After the movie I jetted over to the Fontenots do join Darnell and Daisy for some awesome steak (Darnell would say awesome is an understatement) and a rousing game of Catchphrase.

It was a long day, but we had tons of fun!

Easter Sunday brought church service in the morning, and afterward we raced home to get our house ready for the Weightman family to descend!

We did another egg hunt in the backyard with our nieces and Daisy. Daisy didn’t really “get” this hunt, I think it was because it was in the familiar backyard, instead of being in a large open field with tons of kids her age around her.

It was a fun family get together, filled with good food and fun! After we were all done eating we walked over the the nearest park (which takes all but 3 minutes) and played a rousing game of catch with the football. I had a giant bruise on my right hand for the next few days afterward, but it was still fun! Just goes to show I’m not the best athlete ;)

Another trip to Portland has come and gone, and Daisy and I had a lot of fun. She did well on the way there about 90% of the flight and on the way home it was probably down to about 70%…and she was REALLY awful on that last 30%. Like kicking and screaming at the top of her lungs and me struggling to hold her down as the plane was descending….awful. By far the worst she has ever done…I had to keep reminding myself that it would only be a few more minutes until our plane safely reached the ground.

Besides our lovely airplane rides, we had a great time at my parents house. We did some shopping (per usual) and took a couple of trips to Sweet Tomatoes (another usual!) Fred Meyer had a great sale going on that weekend, and I was able to buy Daisy four Disney movies for her birthday! Which is rapidly approaching!

I will update about our Easter weekend in another post!

Such a good little helper

Daisy and Darnell are napping in our bed, leaving the house quiet for my Sunday afternoon. Because she’s been feeling a little under the weather, Daisy’s been extra cuddly the last few days - and I love it! She woke up whimpering in her crib around 6 this morning so Darnell scooped her up and brought her into bed with us. She then spent the rest of the morning snuggled in my arms :) It was pretty wonderful.

We met some friends for lunch at The Ram and shared a yummy burger. Afterwards, Daisy and I stopped at Craft Warehouse and bought a couple vases and glittery Easter eggs to help decorate the house. I’ve been itching to do more decorating after seeing all of the wonderful images on Pinterest (find me - Kimweightman).

Can’t wait to get this work week started so that Daisy and I can head to Portland! It will be nice to have yummy food, new stores to go shopping and watch Daisy with my family! We were looking at pictures last night and she proudly pointed at my Dad and said “Ba-pa”. His heart is going to absolutely melt.

3 months pregnant with Daisy.
Darnell and I found a bunch of CD’s we haven’t looked at since we initially developed them. It makes me miss waiting to develop film to see the finished product!

Man, I didn’t realize how much time I let pass between my last entry and now. Oh well, it’s becoming harder to actually sit down at the computer for an extended period of time. I suppose that means I have better things to do…or one would think!

I bought the first two Toy Story movies, so we’ve been adding those to the rotation. I think the second one is my favorite, followed by number 3. The first one is still a classic, the characters are just not as developed (understandably).

I was lucky enough to have last Friday off from work (although I had to work that Saturday) but it was really nice to have a whole week day off to spend with Daisy. We slept in a little bit before heading down to Monkey Bizness for the first time. Monkey Bizness is a big indoor play center for kids, with blow up play structures and such (think jumphouses and McDonald’s play structures). They had an area specifically for toddlers, and that’s where Daisy and I spent most of our time. It definitely makes me want to get her an outdoor playhouse for the summer! She loved that thing!

We had a GREAT time there though. It was only $3 for her to go in and play, and we stayed for just under 2 hours. After we played we stopped by Baguette Deli and picked up some yummy Vietnamese sandwiches to take down to BSU to meet Darnell for lunch! It was so weird being back on campus, especially with Daisy on my hip. Three years really does go by super fast!

On Saturday after work, Daisy and I headed over to Andrea’s house to hang out with her and Taylor (her niece). Taylor is about 6 months older than Daisy, and it was fun to see the two of them interact. They actually did a lot better than I thought they would. It was funny to see Taylor try and be the “helper” even though she’s not that much older! Kids pick things up so quickly though.

It was a fun weekend though. The work week was really long, but I’m looking forward to a 3 day work week this week and then a long weekend at home in Tigard. We haven’t seen my family since Christmas! This is the longest they’ve gone without seeing Daisy! She’s so much different than 3 months ago.

On a side note, she’s currently fighting a little cold. She woke up at least 3 times last night and only took about and hour nap today (at 6:30pm). I got her down *for the night* at about 10:30pm tonight, we’ll see if she’s able to sleep through the night.
